Project Schedule
The UZO process began in March 2007 with the development of the Zoning Assessment Report. After the report was realeased in August 2007, MPC staff began drafting the text of the Unified Zoning Ordinance. The Technical Committee has been involved since the beginning of the process.
It is anticipated that staff will begin working with the Advisory Committee on the first draft in the spring of 2010. A two-three month reivew process is anticipated, after which the draft will be released to the public for approximately a four month review process.
The release of the first draft will include both the full draft of the new zoning ordinance as well as the new zoning map which will show the location of each of the new zoning districts.
After the public review period is completed, staff will amend the draft as necessary and then present the revised document and map to the Executive Committe (Planning Commission) for their review and recommendation to the Governing Bodies (County Commission and City Council).
Once the Executive Committee presents their recommendation to the Governing Bodies, they will each hold public hearings and then make the final decision on the adoption of the new Ordinance.
