UZO-related Comprehensive Plan Updates

Purpose of Updates

The City and County approved a unified Comprehensive Plan in November 2006 as Part 1 of the Tricentennial Plan. The Comprehensive Plan sets the vision for the community through 2033 and includes a Future Land Use map with several land use categories that serves as a guide for zoning decisions in the community.

The UZO is Part 2 of the Tricentennial Plan. Through the process of analyzing neighborhoods and nonresidential areas in order to create zoning districts, staff has determined that some edits to the Future Land Use categories as well as the map are necessary. These edits are partly necessary to ensure consistency between the Future Land Use Map and the Zoning Map (a goal of the Comprehensive Plan).

What is Proposed to Change?

In our research and drafting of zoning districts, staff discovered the need to add, edit or remove some of the Future Land Use categories. The documents below are the proposed edits to the relevant sections of the Comprehensive Plan. These amendments and the revised map must be approved by the Mayor and Aldermen and the County Commission after a recommendation from the Planning Commission.

All of the files are Adobe .pdf files. Adobe has a search bar which will allow you to search for keywords throughout the document.
